Kitchen Layout- (L Shaped with Island)
We are having such a hard time with our kitchen layout. We are going to order from IKEA since we one of their kitchens and they are doing a really good deal right now.
With regards to the "cooking zone" do you really need the oven next to the range? We are having a double oven and to put it close to the range would really make things squished. I understand the need for work areas (we will have an island) but to have the sink, dishwasher, range, and double oven all next to each other is too claustrophobic for me.
If you have an L shaped kitchen /w island,, would you mind posting pics? Amy changes you would make?
Thanks

Re: Kitchen Layout- (L Shaped with Island)
you should have a functional triangle between the sink, stovetop, and refrigerator- the wall oven doesn't really need to be in that triangle as it won't be used as much as the cooktop....
A lot of times the wall oven (single or double) is on a wall on the opposite side of the island or peni.
I know you said you want to go w/ Ikea, but if you want, you can check out my dad's website for layout inspiration- he does custom cabinetry and a lot of the clients go with single or double wall ovens (usually those who go single wall get a range too)

I am going to call your dad to get an estimate on our kitchen. Just so I have a range of ideas on what we could get and need to save or get a loan out for.

We have an L shaped kitchen with an island and I have no idea where I would put a wall oven either. I see your problem. Here is my kitchen.

awesome. All you need is the approximate footage of cabinets you need- because he charges per foot, not per cabinet, it doesn't matter the configuration...

If your island wasn't curved, you could put another oven in there... and lose one of the cabinets- there's no "rule" that the oven has to be up in the wall- you could always have a range and an oven.

Never thought of that. I'll keep that in mind when I have to redo my kitchen. In like 10-15 years. They aren't the greatest cabinets.
