Kitchen Window - roman shade or valance??
So we redid our kitchen last year and I'm finally getting aroudn to deciding on something for the kitchen window.
I am trying to decide if I want a roman shadde or valance or somethign else. I'm also struggling with the color.
The cabinets are dark cherry and the backsplash and floor mathc and have hints of red in them. The paint is Sunset Beige. And the countertops are dark brown silestone.
Any thoughts or ideas?
TIA

I would do a fancy valance. Even a swag and jabot. It would spice up the kitchen (which is beautiful). I would do it in a nice print with some color. it'll liven up the space.

I think a nice valance with warm tones in it, maybe a cinnamon color, would look great!

I think valance....we also have cherry cabinets and did a valance (pics in album), I ordered cream colored cellular shades in case we want privacy (we're in Queens and houses are close!!)

I agree about doing a valance. You could use a spring loaded rod and put it as high as you wanted and lengthen the look of your window. And lose no light. That's the thing I don't like about roman shades, I don't like how they block a lot of light in the top 6-8 inches of a window. I think a valance would look so pretty. Nice kitchen!

Valance in a washable, easy care fabric.
Material in kitchens can get pretty dirty from cooking etc.

ITA on lengthening the windows!! this is what we did, our windows aren't too tall, so we have a tension rod and have it a little above the window.

Re: Kitchen Window - roman shade or valance??
I would go with a nice valance. If you do a roman shade, there's a good chance it might not stay clean. We put up a valance and kitchen tiers in my home. With all the cooking and water splashing on the window from doing dishes, stuff has definitely hit our tiers. Luckily, I put in a cheap pair in the kitchen and will eventually replace it with a nice valance
