knights of Columbus type halls- huntington area
Can anyone recommend something like this? we would be using the space for DS's christening. i am trying to save money, but just don't feel like i have the time or the energy to have it at home like i did for DD.
Has anyone seen the room at the knights of columbus in greenlawn?
also, are there others around that anyone recommends? cost per rental? what do they provide?
TIA!

Re: knights of Columbus type halls- huntington area
We used the KofC in E.Northport. It's not the most modern-looking of halls, but it did the trick. Actually, the room is pink so it works nicely if you have a DD. I found the price to be pretty good compared to some of the other halls I called in the area. I want to say it was $400 for the space, $12 for beer, wine, and soda, $6 for anyone under 21 and free for anyone under 5. They provided the table and chairs and bar stuff. We brought everything else: table clothes, cutlery and paper goods, food, desserts, coffee urns and coffee.
ETA: There a few pics in my "DD" album. But I realize I didn't get a great one of the whole room. Here's the best I have: Image Attachment(s):

On Pulaski Road, believe it or not, the room at the Moose Lodge is beautiful! My sister had her Sweet 16 there (ummm we are going back 10 years though)..the room was gorgeous!
I'm not sure if the "rule" still applies, but, I do believe my father had to go to a meeting or something like that to become a member!

Re: knights of Columbus type halls- huntington area
the moose lodge was recently taken over (my coworker's DH is one in the group) and I think they are renovating it too! But I did go before renovations and it's a really large place.
There is also a VFW on Cuba Hill that is new, but looks pretty small. Across the street the Greenlawn American Legion moved from the KoC b/c they offered them free use...I can ask my father if they rent out the space.
If you know anyone that lives in HBCA in Centerport, they have a room on the beach.
you can also rent out parks in ToH - Elwood Park / Caledonia Park / Melville Park / Crabmeadow Beach / Centerport Beach / Dix Hills Park...Elwood has a pavilion...so does Centerport Beach and CrabMeadow...not sure about Dix hills or Melville, but Caledonia does not.
