Know anything about Miller Place? (great house there!)

I saw this adorable house on MLSLI:

http://www.mlsli.com/uniDetails.CFM?MLNum=1858604&typeprop=1&qs=1&sid=32650

Which lists the house as Mt. Sinai but on the map, it looks more like Miller Place.

Anyone know anything about this area? It looks like a great block, right next to a farm, dead end. But I thought I heard something negative about Miller Place along the way... any thoughts?

Ive never heard anything bad about Miller Place. MP and Mount Sinai schools have a good reputation.

its too far out east for me though.

I wonder if it's Middle Island I was thinking of. Aren't there a lot of low-income housing developments in Middle Island?

I could be totally wrong, of course. Don't want to insult anyone.

Man. If we had the downpayment, that would definitely be a house we'd consider.

It's right on the MP/MS border, but it's MS schools, which is probably why it's listed as Mount Sinai...

I agree with the pps you're probably thinking of Middle Island. I grew up in MP, but went to Rocky Point schools. If you have any questions, feel free to FM.

Miller Place has a GREAT SD! it's a very nice area, but it's really "out there" - not easy to get to, especially at rush hour.

It's actually very easy to get to - make a left off of the Exit 63 ramp, follow No Ocean/85 to the end and you're there...Chat Icon For this house in particular you've only got to make three turns from the LIE and maybe a fourth into your driveway!

I meant that it wasn't easy to get to in rush hour, not that it was a complicated drive. I didn't mean to sound harsh. I personally love MP. but it's too far out for us.

I agree it is kind of out there-VERY far North. My Dad lives in Rocky Point and use dto live in Mt. Sinai-I live off ex. 58 and it was still a 45 minute drive because of how far North.

it takes me almost an hour to get to MP from Holbrook - not even in rush hour.

Wow! It only takes me 35 minutes to get to Wading River from Islip, which is a longer drive. Maybe you should check out alternative routes.

Wow, thanks for the info. DH wants to work in the city and I didn't realize how far it was from the end of the Port Jeff line.

It seems like it's pretty far from where I work but it's actually only 4 miles more than my current commute. It's just dealing with the LIE that I'd have to be worried about. Chat Icon

It's less than a 10 minute drive from the PJ train station. But the train into Manhattan takes about 2 hours. It's a long commute.

Yeah, my DH probably wouldn't go for that. He likes Port Jeff and would put up with the commute if we were actually in Port Jeff. But I don't know about being another 10 minutes east. He's a bit of a baby about stuff like that. Chat Icon
