Re: Knox Summer Camp in St James

I have not sent kids there but I recently toured the grounds with my brother for my nephew (looking into the school) and I rec'd a big packet on all that they offer - it was very impressive. I love the campus, I love the fact that they have so much space. I really love the fact that they have an equestrian center, that's important to me for kids - I rode when I was little. I love their outlook on how to treat each other, how to behave, and all of that - just the philosophy in general seemed wonderful.

I also looked into Ivy League's Camp (in Smithtown on Brooksite) and that was fantastic too. The amount of recreational activities they have is really unmatched. They too have a paddock with horses. I really loved the pools, all three are heated. I love the activities and how interactive it was. I think you truly can't go wrong either way.

I'm going to have a hard time deciding - Ivy League starts their camp a little younger, they have a one-on-one program so I think I'll start there because then DS can go sooner. But both places just look excellent. For schooling, I'm thinking of sending DS to Ivy League for preschool-6th grade and then the Knox School for 6-12th.

Mind you, he's five months old so I'm planning way ahead Chat Icon

Thanks....people rave about Ivy League, but at $7000+ for the summer that rules that one out.

Thanks so much for the feedback, it really does seem like a great camp. Im torn between that and the Rinx.

Re: Knox Summer Camp in St James

A friend of mine daughter went last summer to Knox and loved it. She had gone to Ivy League before this but it was so expensive. They tried out Knox for summer and she loved it just as much.

I'm surprised that Knox isn't expensive also.

Did they quote you at how much it would be?

And it's so true - you really can't go wrong, both are so nice.

Oh it was expensive too! All the big summer camps seem to be. I just know it was less then Ivy League and the Rinks. Don't remember exact price.

My brother works at Knox during the school year. I don't know much about their camp, but he's not crazy about how the school is run.

Re: Knox Summer Camp in St James

My daughter spent a week at Knox for beginner horse camp last year and loved it!
Another friend sent her skn there all summer and he had a great time.

Think we are doing horse camp again this summer. They extended it to two weeks for beginners.

Horse camp sounds fun! I will have to look into it. Do they swim also?
