lab results...please help
I got the lab results back from my D&C. There was NOTHING chrmosomally wrong with the embryo. Nothing was wrong with it. This is very disturbing to me b/c now I am thinking that something is wrong with my own body that I could not sustain the pregnancy. Anyone else have an experience like this, where they had NO possible explanation?

Re: lab results...please help
i wish i knew the answer to this.. i know that i didnt have any testing done but still diagnosed me with IC..
i wouldnt think anything was wrong with you... unfortunately MC is so common ... and i HATE saying these words.. but i feel that if there was something wrong with your body then you wouldnt have gotten pregnant right away.. and i know that MC does not change your fertility.. i think its just one of those things where some of us just do not know how or what had happened

I'm so sorry! It's so difficult when you don't have a definitive answer.
I don't know if I've suggested this, but maybe ask your dr. to test you for MTHFR Factor V- it's a blood test for a blood clotting issue when you are pregnant (sometimes), you take baby aspirin and lovenox.

Re: lab results...please help
You could get tested for MTHR..but honestly, my friend worked for an OB for years and the reality is that most women's bodies are not prepared for a baby, they miscarry the first time and go on to have a healthy pregnancy afterwards....It's almost like the body needs to figure out what it has to do.

i've heard this as well.
Is this your first miscarriage ?
They usually don't test 1st miscarriages because they are so commom (unfortunately).
I know you wanted a reason, but It doesn't mean you won't be able to have a successful pregnancy!
and please don't blame yourself, it's nothing you did.
I blamed myself for my first miscarriage because we didnt have a reason. I decided it was either the extra mile in the park that day or the tuna fish sandwich I had. Even though everyone from my doctor down told me it wasn't possible.

Re: lab results...please help
Hi When-
I had the exact same diagnosis when they tested after my D&C. My OB said that 60% of his patients have no chromosomal abnormalities, etc... with thier miscarriages. If you're like me, that didn't give me a lot of comfort, but at least you know that hopefully your next baby will be healthy too.

Ugh. How awful to think you are going to get some answers and then to get a big fat nothing. I am so sorry.
I agree with other who say to do the test to check for a clotting issue. It's so easy to treat, and since it wasn't a chromosmal problem, I would think your doc would be more willing to explore other possible issues even if it was your first mc.

Re: lab results...please help
Have you spoken to your doctor since? I would make sure they do all the possible tests on you - for blood clotting, hormone levels etc. It's very bittersweet knowing there was nothing wrong with your baby - there's no way to predict chromosomal abnormalities, but you can sort of take comfort in the fact that there was no way it could've survived. On the other hand, if there is something 'wrong' with you - ie progesterone deficiency or MTHR, etc - you can be treated. I'm so sorry for your loss
