Lab screwed up AFP test-what does this mean for me?

So I get a call from my dr. today that when I went for my AFP marker test, the lab spun the wrong test, and tested for whichever it was that wasn't supposed to get tested for, single or quad. I went at 15w5d. My dr. told me when he gave me the script that I had to go within 7-10 days for the best results, which would give me till 16w3d.

Well, I'm 17w even now, and have to go get redrawn ASAP, I'm shooting for tomorrow morning, but depending on what the weather is doing, I don't know if that's possible. Do you think that this is a big deal that I "missed" my window of opportunity for this test? And what is it testing for exactly? If it's related to the bloodwork at the NT scan at all, I'm not very worried, because those numbers came back excellent and with like no risk for anything, but now I'm concerned that had the lab not run the wrong test on my blood the first time, they would have found something, and now that I'm going late they won't be able to pick up on it as much.

I wouldn't worry too much -- just go and get the blood drawn immediately.

I had that test done at 17wks3days.

I think you will be fine. I was told that test needs to be done between 16-18 weeks.

I went a few days after 17 weeks. Although, my AFP results came back high and I had to go for an amnio as a result so I don't know if that was due to the timing of taking the test.

similar thing happened to me last pregnancy. they forgot to do the test! I re-did the test during my 17th week. Just make sure that they know the results are numbers from 17 weeks and not earlier.. it should be totally fine.
