Ladies that have gone to see a RE/Specialist
How many months of TTC before you decided that it was time to get checked out/ see a specialist, since you weren't getting pregnant?

The rule of thumb is if you are under 35 they would like you to try a year over 35 it is 6 months.

Re: Ladies that have gone to see a RE/Specialist
I had 2 m/c's previously and then it took 9 months to get pg with DD, so this time around my OBGYN wants to see me after 6 months. Speak to your OBGYN first.

Re: Ladies that have gone to see a RE/Specialist
I went to my OB/GYN after 6 months of trying (I had to go for my annual) and saw that I was very concerned and he took some blood to start running tests and from there I was referred to an RE once the results came back a little off.

Re: Ladies that have gone to see a RE/Specialist
We did the SA at 9 months.
Waited until 12 months to do CD 3 bloodwork and HSG. Then after results from all of those came back, we were referred to the RE.

Re: Ladies that have gone to see a RE/Specialist
the 'standard' most doctors' make you try for is a year. There are OTHER factors though that have to play into that number...
1. your age 2. your DH's age 3. your cycle (is it short, long, etc) 4. your overall health 5. your family history for conception issues
For me, my age was only a slight concern (i was 33 1/2 when i went to the RE) - but the fact that my LP was short & when I DID get AF - i didn't (tmi) bleed outwardly really (i could wear a light days pad the entire length of my period)...made my doc tell me that for me - 6 months was enough.
I was also put on birth control when i was 16 to help control cysts, so there was also a worry that I had PCOS.
When we saw the RE - his main concern for us was the 'quality' of my remaining eggs.
