Ladies who see Dr. Gustavo San Roman
Hello Ladies,
My current OB/GYN is Dr. San Roman. We recently started the preliminary testing for infertility, but my question is, does he do all the tests and if I do need IUI or IVF does he do that as well or would he refer me to an RE that would handle all that?
I forgot to ask some of these questions at my last appt.
TIA

Re: Ladies who see Dr. Gustavo San Roman
I saw Gerry San Roman who did the prelim testing, and then you are referred to a specialist for procedure consultations if you need to go forward w/ IUI or IVF. Gerry and Gus have another brother who they can refer to you to Repro Specialist of NY.
good luck!

great, thank you for responding, that is what I needed to know, I wasn't sure if I went with him the whole journey or went on to a specialist.

Re: Ladies who see Dr. Gustavo San Roman
Dr.Gus is my regular OB/GYN but I did all my fertilty treatments with his brothers office RSOFNY ( Gabriel SanRoman)
I actually started off the other way around....Began with RSOFNY and then transferred to Gus after I became pregnant, so not sure how it works...I can say with a great degree of certainty that he does not do IVF ( there is a special lab etc...) IUI's I'm not certain about, but I'm thinking he is most likely only going to do the bloodwork and perhaps send you for an HSG ( to check for blocked tubes) maybe, and will then refer you to an RE...
As much as I love him as my ob/gyn, personally I would not go beyond the preliminary testing with a Gyn...I am speaking from experience because I wasted 7 months with my old gyn (having me on Clomid improperly monitored etc..) and was very happy after going to an RE ...Good Luck

Thanks for sharing....so at what point did you know you needed an RE? Did your GYN suggest or did you just go? I guess I don't to waste anytime with this either if I should go straight to a speacialist.

I always had irregular cycles and ultimately had a dx of PCOS....
The Gyn I was seeing at the time, I think finally realized that Clomid alone was not going to do the trick for me and gave me the number for RSOFNY..Had he not, I was planning on persuing it myself but didn't know how to go about it ( this was before my LIF days )
Dr.Gus is awesome and there is no doubt in my mind that he won't have you seek out the proper help to get you pregnant...He is probably just now seeing what he thinks your potential issue may be so that he can give you a proper referral...
Do you know if you have any issues with male factor ? Has DH had a SA done at all ?

Re: Ladies who see Dr. Gustavo San Roman
I agree Dr. San Roman is great and very thorough and I have no doubt he will point me in the right direction. I just reached out to him last month that we are having issues, so we just started with my bloodwork, etc. My progesterone, etc. came back normal. DH has not had his SA done yet - he is going next week for that so we will know a little more after that.

Re: Ladies who see Dr. Gustavo San Roman
I go to his practice but have never seen or met him. I'm currently on my 2nd round of clomid 50 mg.
If I don't conceive after the third cycle I'll be going to his brother for further treatment.
I just wanted to add that I see Susan for all my consults and I absolutely LOVE her!
I did O last month but not until CD 24. I'm currently day 16 and when I went back yesterday my lining had thinned a bit and I only had 3 follicles developing as opposed to 7 on day 12.
If there's no change or they shrink on Thursday (CD 18) I'm crashing the cycle and doing 100.
I'm hoping this works because I have no coverage for IUI or IVF
