Ladies with doppler, I have a question
Is there a secret to finding the heartbeat right away? I used it 3 nights so far it it takes quite a few minutes to find baby, then when we finally get a reading and we hear the heartbeat, it is only for a few seconds, not even a minute.
Unless, what we think is static is actually the heartbeat?

Re: Ladies with doppler, I have a question
I found mine pretty quickly the first time, then today it took a few more minutes. If I were you I'd start near the pubic area right in the middle and work my way from the left to right from there. We are around the same week wise, so that is where the baby might be right now. Felicia gave me that advise. Today for the first time, everytime I located the little booger, he or she would move away, or it almost sounded more muffled like he or she was hiding behind something, but it was there! Good luck!
ETA: Did you get the digital one? That is how I know for certain we found it, by the beats per minute.

Re: Ladies with doppler, I have a question
Yes, I got the digital one. I seem to be finding him/her around my belly button area. We started down low, but didn't find anything and when we do it is right around the belly button area, but yes it does sound as if he/she is hiding behind something! Baby is already playing games with us
We do, however, hear a lot of fetal bloodflow.

Re: Ladies with doppler, I have a question
I have heard that the doppler somehow "annoys" them b/c they move away from it. maybe that's why you're having a hard time?

If baby is anything like me, *everything* annoys him/her,
so I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case

Re: Ladies with doppler, I have a question
you are too funny!
To add, I do agree with what Dina said. I believe the babies just don't care for the doppler - they will move away from it if you linger too long on that area. I didn't notice this too much when I first used it at @12 weeks (I think my baby was lazier back then) but now, every night is a chore to get a good 'reading' of the heartbeat because this little bean is moving around constantly.. yup, running away from it! It's funny also that when they get a bit bigger you'll actually KNOW when they moved (if you can't feel it) because with the doppler, it makes a very distinct SOUND ...like a banging sound .. it's crazy! So now only use the doppler enough to get the heartrate, then DH will start yelling at me and says I'm "bothering the baby" too much
Oops I meant to add: I'm sure you are picking up the heartbeat, but its just a little more difficult at 12 weeks or so to find at first, and then getting them to stay put! As Kitkat said the digital display helps a lot.. if you are getting a reading on the display of anywhere from 120-180, that's the little bean's heartbeat for sure and not just the fetal bloodflow or placenta, etc..

Thanks Flee
And, yesterday I was hearing that banging sound right after we would hear the heartbeat, so it is good to know that is the sound of him/her moving around. thanks for the great wisdom
Edited for bad grammar and preggo brain

Where did you ladies get the doppler from?
