Lake George or Ocean City,MD
Which would you choose and why?
We're looking at 4-5 days in late July / early August. Both are about a 4 hour drive. Lake George hotels are a little cheaper but I think Ocean City may have more to do. Kids are 3 and 6.

I like OC better than Lake George... like you said, much more to do, and everything can be walkable if that's important to you. It's cheesy touristy beach goodness at its best.

Ocean City. I don't swim in fresh water and the beaches at lakes are not nice to me.

Guess I am in the minority, but I vote for Lake George. I did not like Ocean City at all. We went a few years ago, it was filled with smokers-couldn't enjoy the beach or outdoor restaurants because of all of the smokers and the boardwalk was seedy-we saw four different people being arrested. We go to Lake George every year and just love it. Very family friendly, clean, a lot to do. It's my happy place!

I agree. I haven't been to Ocean City, but Lake George, there is so much to do. You can rent a boat, jet ski, take a boat ride, horse back riding, tubby tubing (further up mountain), mini golf, and there is an amusement park close by.
