Large Boxes from Furniture Delivery

We had an entire bedroom set delivered on Saturday. The delivery guys failed to take away the cardboard boxes, so now we have massively large boxes in our back yard. The recycling guys wouldn't take them. Is this considered regular garbage? Do we need to request a special pickup?

You need to cut them down and tie them up, then the recycling guys will take them.

ETA: I'm in Town of Hempstead too, and they started to take cardboard as recycling earlier this year.

I am in the town of oyster bay and it is considered regular garbage. Just fold the boxes as much as you can and put it out with the regular garbage.

Oh no, it would take us an entire day to cut down these boxes!! I'm hoping our garbage man takes them. Does anyone have a kid looking to make a fort out of boxes?

You can try, but our garbage men wouldn't take them, and special pickup wouldn't schedule a date to take them, they told us to cut them up.

They're at the curb as we speak (type). If they don't take them, DH will have to spend his X-mas break cutting cardboard. Chat Icon

I called and asked what the deal was..they MUST be no bigger then 2' x 2'...So we said f it....we used a friends dumpster..loaded are 2 cars and dropped it all in there.

the delivery guys did the same to us, the left the boxes in front of the house. so we just stepped on them to crush them and taped them together it didn't take long at all.
we get cardboard pick up once a week.

I would call the store back and tell them that they have to come get their garbage.
