Laser Eye surgery
Anyone done this recently? I am getting it done early next year. I just can't choose where. I went to one place and got diagnosed told I'm not a candidate for lazik that I have to get PRK. Their price is $2,995 for both eyes and it includes 6 follow up visits over the next year. That sounds like a good price to me and they seem reputable. What is everyone else charging?

Re: Laser Eye surgery
My husband had lasik done in '08 and is now seeing 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other. He originally had 20/400 in each eye.
He had it done at Stahl . I highly recommend them, they do PRK as well.
I don't remember how much it was at the time. (I do know it was under or around 3k).

Re: Laser Eye surgery
I had it done years ago, and my husband just had it done in the beginning of the year. We used one of the best doctors out there. Dr Donnenfeld @ TLC in Garden City.
$5500 for both eyes.

did a while ago but with Dr. Donnefeld- he is highly recomended
i had prk - be aware that is much more invasive than lasik - you will need a few days off - i had mine on teusday and did not leave the house till friday except for docor appointments
also it takes a little while to go to 20/20 - i was at 20/40 within a week of surgery but it took about a month to get to 20/20

This is who DH & I are getting it done by. My consult is next week but I believe my husband's quote was ~$4600 (I think this includes a 10% discount through VSP, our eyecare insurance provider.)

Re: Laser Eye surgery
i had it done ages ago. 1999. lasted only a few years for me and i was back to contacts. i was over 20/800 when i had it done (i think my scrip was -8.75?) and was seeing 20/20 for awhile. by 2002, i was back to contacts. basically, the doctors lied to me and said it would be fine. my vision got worse every year and i asked if that was a problem. they said no. but, it was. just make sure your vision is stablized for a few years. i'm now wearing a -3, and last time i went to the dr, i had "just enough" cornea left to do it one more time. "just enough" is not enough for my comfort zone, so i dont think i will be getting it again, unless the technology changes drastically.

Same here except I havent had my cornea examined to see if another surgery is feasible. I got it done in 2000 as part of my grandmas graduation gift. I was at -6.5 or something like that, my eyes were terrible (my precription contacts was at the max possible, any higher and I wouldve required glasses). After the surgery, I was at 20/30 or 20/40 and went back to contacts in 2004-2005. I am at -3 now and thinking about it but its not a top priority now...dont want to gamble with my eyes unless I am guaranteed to have 20/20 till I die....

Re: Laser Eye surgery
I got the PRK at Dr Stahls office in Garden City 3 years ago! I paid around 3k and I just put it on care credit and paid it off. They were awesome. I am one of 12 people that I know of who had their Lasik or PRK there

Re: Laser Eye surgery
Not sure if you are done having kids or not but if you aren't wait. I had it done in 2000 for $2500 an eye I believe. I had perfect vision until I got pregnant with my dd. My eyesight changed and never went back.

Re: Laser Eye surgery
I did lasik in April with Dr. Kelly. Kelly Laser Center has an office in Garden City and the city. The plan I selected covers any enhancements over the next 2 years and all office visits.

Dr Donnenfled did mine back in 2004 ... both eyes with custom Vue (I don't recall even what it was but I believe it was custom mapping that helped get it more precise due to my astigmatism). I believe I paid $4600.
