last minute Florida vacation with 2 small kids
DH & I are expecting twins in March, so we would like to take our 2 boys on a nice family vacation before chaos reigns. The doctor will not allow me to travel past 26 weeks, so we are thinking of planning a very last minute trip- late Sept/early Oct. Ds # 1 is 3, DS # 2 is 18 months. We were thinking of flying down to Orlando, doing 3 nights at Disney, staying on the monorail since it will be a short visit, and then renting a car, driving to Club Med, and staying 4-5 nights there. Has anyone ever done this? I see the drive is about 2 hours, which isn't that bad. Will it be warm enough for a "beach" vacation at that point? Any reviews on Sandpiper? And any suggestions on a monorail hotel with two young children? TIA!

Definitely warm enough for the pool/beach in Sept. or Oct. And you can probably get some good deals now that the kids are back in school.

We just came back from a 2 week Florida vacation. We did a few days in Clearwater Beach after Disney and it was amazing. I'm not sure about Sandpiper, but we loved it there. We have also stayed in St Pete Beach and love it there also.

My friend is at Sandpiper now and loves it! Disney might be difficult while pregnant with twins!

We will be doing a similar trip... But Disney & Fort Lauderdale. We stay off Disney property & rent a car. The monorail resorts are just so $$, we spend on dining & activity. Polynesian is having construction done now, so careful if you were looking at it.
Last year, we did the same & had great weather (though you can catch rain at this season).
Our favorite is the Mickey Halloween... We chill at our hotel pool & do the park til late night.

Thanks ladies. I think we are now going to do a Thurs-Mon in Disney, stay at the Grand Floridian, and then drive to Jupiter and stay there Mon-Fri. DH wants more of a beach vacation then Club Med would be.
