Last night's unsuccessful attempt at my Level II (take 2) -- Need Advice!

So, we had my Level II last week and all was well except that didn't want to turn over and they couldn't get an anterior shot of the heart and the 4 valves that they needed. Soooo, they had me come back again yesterday at 5 and told me to drink lots of OJ so he'd be active. Well, he was active alright, punching like a little boxer but unfortunately, still curled up with his back facing out so no luck. They told me to come back again this morning and same thing, still no luck. They had me roll over on either side, roll over onto all fours (which in turn caused me to pull something in my neck so now I'm in pain and in desperated need of either a heat pack or a neck massage) and still....nothing. This baby does not want to flip over!!!!

They scheduled me to come back in next Wed. morning at which point I'll be 22 weeks, they said they need to have this picture by 23/24 weeks latest and if next Wed morning he's still not flipped over then they're just going to keep me there until he is.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's great for me and DH to get to be seeing him so often, but it's really frustrating at the same time. I've tried juice like I was told, chocolate bars like I was told, sitting on all fours.......so....

any tips on getting him to flip???????

I am so sorry. How frustrating!!!!! I usually jump around a little bit and shake my stomach Worked both times. Nothing violent but gentle jumps and shakes

My little girl is the same way...

Because of the scare we had with her possibly having Downs, my Dr. sent me for a fetal echocardiogram a couple of weeks ago, they kept me there for 3 HOURS because she just would not cooperate. She was definately awake, but curled in a ball off to the side. No matter what they did, or had me do, she would not budge. In the end, they were able to get "most" of what the cardiologist needed to see, but not everything. It was enough though for the Dr. to say there were no concerns with the heart.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything you can do, the baby is going to do what the baby wants to do. Hopefully, he'll feel like sharing next week!

ETA: They also had me drink a ton of OJ, walk up and down the hallway, shake my belly, and she just didn't want to be bothered.

Yeah, the tech was shaking my belly for me and he just wouldn't budge. It was funny cause my whole bladder was full of OJ and she's pressing and shaking and I was laughing and I had to stop her because there would have been a giant OJ accident all over the table if she kept jiggling me.

My mother said, well at least you're getting a taste now, kids never behave quite the way you need them to when they're in the spotlight. Thanks mom.

I ate chocolate right before going in for the 3rd one with G. Yep same problem. 3 visits and I could not get a good heart shot.

I think I ate a snickers or something.

Did they ever get a good one or they just gave up and worked with what they had?

They got it the last time.

Oh good!!!!

I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. And eat an ice cream snickers bar for breakfast before my appt next Wed morning. Hopefully he likes it!

Shaylie was the same way when I had my Ultrascreen and I had to go 3 times for the sono. With my Level 2, she was a little bit more behaved, but when it came to her heart, she just wasn't having it. First she was all over the place and the tech couldn't get a good picture. Then she tried to take the pic underneath Shaylie's arm, but Miss Shaylie decided to put her other arm across her chest. I've done the juice, coughing, the tech would poke her and still nothing. I even went as far as not eating anything before the test. When I did that, it was my 3rd visit for the Ultrascreen sono and it worked. I'm scheduled for the fetal ecko cardio gram, so hopefully she'll cooperate. Unfortunately, I have no advice. These babies all have minds of their own and they will do whatever they want.

I had the same problem with baby A - he kept his back to us the whole time the first sono and when I went back the second time, he flipped for like a second, and she was able to get it.
