last post about DD and uti, long conversation with ped today, i hope i'm doing the right thing
my 2.10 yo just had a UTI. group practice, the ped that saw her todl me she needs renal sonogram and VCUG. so after a long conversation with ped i usually see today- we decided to do the sono and do a urine culture every 2 months, and hold off on the VCUG for now. DD was toilet trained 2 months ago, so i'm hoping thats all this is.
I hope I'm doing the right thing. btw, if anything comes back funny on sono, i will of course do the VCUG.

I think it makes sense. If the VCUG test is the test I thnk it is, our ped did not recommend it unless of course the sono shows something.

We have the same problem. The VCUG is invasive so I would hold off until UTI #2 but I wouldn't hold off if she gets another UTI. Unfortunately, once they have an UTI, they are so much more susceptible to them.

its with a catheter, they shoot some dye in and xray it.
he basically said, by doing hte urine cultures, you are making sure she isnt having undetected UTIs which can impair kidney function
