Laugh at me... My trip to Pet Supplies Plus last week

I bring the dogs to the PSP in Smithtown to have their nails done, every few weeks. I called the girl who has the grooming place in the back and just cleared with her that she would have time to do 2 dogs. I told her I'd be there about 4:45.

Apparently, dogs pee on the column right in front of the store all the time, marking their territory. I always see pee stains on it, and steered clear, not letting Brinkley sniff it.

I get inside and see a man with a Mastiff in the first aisle, which I usually take to the back of the store, because it's the widest one. The last time I saw a Mastiff, it tried to bite my arm, so I figured - lets go down the second aisle.

We get to the back (me half dragging them most of the way) to find the grooming shop is closed. Now I'm annoyed, because the dogs are all unruly, and I took the trip for nothing. I glance back at the hours on the door - which says it's open until 5pm. I take out my phone and it's 5:03pm. I guess since I was 15 minutes late, she figured - see ya. I turn and put my phone back just in time to see Brinkley lowering his leg. He peed on a floor display.

So much for avoiding an inappropriate peeing situation! I think, given the choice, I would have preferred the column outside to the display inside.

I start walking to the front to tell someone what he did... Cleanup in aisle 2!! When I see a stack of food Brinkley is really interested in... and old dried pee stains on the corner of the stack. Apparently, this is a fairly common thing. Good thing I don't buy my dog food from them.

I get to the front and there's no one at any of the registers. I go back to the first aisle and the Mastiff is still there. I get far enough to get what I'm looking for (dog treats) and the Mastiff walks by, with me restraining my dogs so they don't greet it without the other owner's permission.

Then back to the register, still no one there. I get on line and put my stuff on the counter. A little girl decides that it would be fun to tease Brinkley with a squeaky toy just outside of his reach. I refrain from telling her that that's how I got bit by a dog when I was a kid. Then Brinkley knocks over a floor display trying to get to her. As I'm picking up the display, the Mastiff owner comes over and his dog takes a swipe at Ginger's face. My phone falls out of my pocketbook and I have to retrieve it. Little girl is still teasing Brinkley and where her parents are, I have no idea. I go back to the line to find someone took my spot and was annoyed when I asked to get back to my purchases. The dogs have now found a caged rabbit and are enamored with it, while the man in front of me lets me go ahead of him because CLEARLY I am having issues with them.

I get them out of the store, in the car, and am halfway home before I remember that I never told anyone about the cleanup in aisle 2. Le sigh.

DH went back on Saturday to get their nails done and she only charged him for 1 dog, apologizing for leaving early. I thought that was very nice, since technically, I was the late one. DH didn't tell her the rest of the story.

Worst trip to PSP ever.

that is my biggest fear that hershey will pee in the pet store lol

Sounds like a normal trip to a pet store to me! And I'm shocked about the Mastiff...my brother has one and she is the most gentle animal I have ever met!

Oh my! Next time you need their nails done, I'll do it. The only payment will have to be that they must play with Riker and make him really tired!

Sounds like a normal trip to the Pet store and I only have 1 dog with me. I always look like a lunatic in there getting pulled in every direction

They're usually sooo much better because I have the time to let them look around and research everything. I was just in a rush and it set the tone for the rest of the visit. Lesson learned.

Angela, I didn't mean to insinuate that all Mastiffs are bad. I just have a bad taste in my mouth now that one lunged for my arm at the dog park. I posted about it a while back, it was more about an oblivious owner than the dog, I'm sure.

Laura, I have their nails Dremeled because we've used the clippers and we're not fans. The dogs or me. I like having them ground down more often to push the quick back. I could do it myself but honestly, it's worth it to me to just pay someone once every few weeks.

We really should get another playdate together now that cooler weather is almost here!

I'm glad you didn't think that about me Angela.

Laura, I have one too! I went through all the trouble of buying one and getting Brinkley used to it and everything, only to realize it took me so much longer than the professional does.
