Lawyers? Contract question?

Please see my post on the "pets" board, in reference to the below "contract" provided by the ever so gorgeous and talented 'MrsMBV' who has been a Godsend to me!

Can I execute this contract to the owner?

___ I hereby understand that this transaction is a transfer of ownership of _____________ (name of pet) a _______________ (age of pet) ______________________(gender/breed of pet). Current and future claims of ownership to this pet by the original owner are hereby relinquished to the new adopter. The adoption fee of $___________ covers the initial adoption of aforementioned pet. I further acknowledge that all liabilities of ownership of aforementioned pet are transferred at time of completed adoption.

Yes, any actions or lawsuits that have been filed by the current owners of the pet, or against the pet/current owners of the pet.

It's important to ask these questions b/c, among other things, you want to (a) protect yourself from future claims arising from the pet and (b) know if you have any money owing to you since you are assuming any existing claims.
