Leaking amniotic fluid?? (tmi?)
What do you look for? Does it smell? How do you know you are?
Ok, today I noticed some "dribbles"? Just wondering if I should or shouldn't be concerned. I'm not calling the doctor unless it happens throughout the night. I want to keep an eye on things now that I'm home. I was out all day and put a tissue down there, so I'm not really sure if it was a constant or just happened after I peed. When I did notice it, it was enough for about a dime to a nickle size to go through my pants
Any advice???

Re: Leaking amniotic fluid?? (tmi?)
i've had this concern in the past few weeks too. i know it's tmi but i feel like i am leaking all the time! i did a search on here and read that this is not uncommon-i read that amniotic fluid has a sweet distinct odor and that it is different from urine. i also read that one girl knew it was fluid b/c when she went to pee once she was done she continued to leak. i have attirbuted my leaking here and there during the day to my little one literally sitting on my bladder! i think there is so much pressure on it so that really contributes to it. i'm sure some of the others can offer more concrete advice on this and i'm sure you are fine!

I was thinking that I had the same issue, but now I am starting to think that it is just discharge.

I hope it's just discharge. But it wasn't "thick" it was more watery.

I did last time and am again. The only way I knew it was happening was when they did sonos.

Discharge....that is what it is. It occurred throughout my WHOLE pregnancy so far...Lucky me!
I lived in pantyliners!

Yup, normal.

Re: Leaking amniotic fluid?? (tmi?)
With Connor I started leaking around 32 weeks. My levels would go down and then back up.
This time I just started leaking at 35 weeks.

Re: Leaking amniotic fluid?? (tmi?)
There isn't much you can do. My levels would go back up the first time if the baby moved and "plugged" up the leak. When it came time to deliver I didn't have enough for a vaginal birth (his heart rate dropped everytime I contracted) so I had a c-section.
Since I am high risk this time I have a sono weekly so they will monitor the fluid. If it gets too low they will do my c-section early.
If you are leaking they may have you come for more frequent sonos.
But don't freak out till they confirm. It could just be pee I have that problem as well.
Call the doc.

Re: Leaking amniotic fluid?? (tmi?)
I was leaking for two weeks and didn't tell my Doctor because I thought it was normal. I was due in 2 weeks and went in for a sono and check up. When they did the sono my fluids were very low and they were mad that I didn't tell them. They put me in the hospital immediately and told me that I was having the baby that night. When they did a blood test, my white count was up.. They did a c-section that night.
When are you due?
I'm sure it's fine, but you might want to tell the DR. I'm not trying to get you scared, this was just my case.

I'm 32 weeks, due the beginning of June. I'm not really scared, just wondering what I need to keep an eye out for. I'm not soaking anything and nothing's been happening yet today. I will probably call them in a bit and see what they say.

Re: Leaking amniotic fluid?? (tmi?)
Its probably just urine, but your doctor can test the fluid's pH to make sure its not amniotic fluid just to be safe.

Re: Leaking amniotic fluid?? (tmi?)
Even though you are not worried, maybe you should just call the doctor and give them a heads up- they can tell you exactly what you should be looking for.

Re: Leaking amniotic fluid?? (tmi?)
I have noticed some leaking too. I just assumed that it was the usual discharge because I was told that it would increase during the last few weeks.

Re: Leaking amniotic fluid?? (tmi?)
Have you spoken to the dr. yet? I would always be in touch with the dr. about this, as someone who had low fluid after wondering if I was leaking for a while....

I haven't because there's been nothing happening south of the border today. If it does start happening again... yes, I will DEFINITELY be calling

Re: Leaking amniotic fluid?? (tmi?)
I would up in the hospital with Jules from this. Just call the DR and have them do a "fern test" just to be safe! Mine was only urine-Jules was kicking my bladder and I was leaking a significant amount of urine, right through my clothes.
You should never be afraid to call your OB!
