Learning another language...

has anyone ever learned a new language on their own by instructional DVD's or CD's?? If so can you recommend or offer info??? Just curious...
I am becoming adventurous lately.

I've been thinking about doing this also.......I've heard Rosetta Stone is one of the easier programs with a high success rate...........

Not sure how good this is, but here's a new web service offering free language courses.

learn foreign language
The first Free enterprise language learning course available on the Internet. Eleven of our courses are now available in our beta release. Each course has 100 lessons available.

Personally, I don't think you can actually get so much out of the teach yourself programs. YOu need an environment where you can produce the language with another person. IMO the best way is in a class of some sort.
