Leasing a car..... how much?
Typically how much $ do you have to put as a down payment when leasing a car????
(mini cooper if that makes a difference)

I put the littlest amount of money down requested possible. I only pay whatever $ I need to put down upfront.

many of our friends and my dh are in the car business...
They said never put anything down other than the obvious 1st month, reg fees, and such. Thats how Anthony does it.
but it can be bc they work there..I know when i lease a car this year that is what i will be doing.

you dont havet to put anything down but to get those attractive monthly payments that you see in the paper most of them base it off of putting down a 3000 dp- the notorious fine print.

If you want to put a down payment in order to make your payments lower, I suggest looking into GAP insurance. This will insure your down payment in case of anything like theft or an accident.

I rolled my taxes and bank fees into my new car payment at 2 1/4% and only paid the 1st months payment.

some people do put money down so their payments arent as high- or those commercials they have the low payments for require a down payment... but imo, it is never a good idea to put money down on a lease- my mom who used to sell cars says the same thing- plus if your car was ever stolen, you are out all of that money that you put down up front (which she did have one of our leased cars stolen right from our driveway in a nice area!)

I think our last lease we put down about $3,000 and our payment was $200/month for a Jetta.

On all my leases I have never put more than $500 down. IMO as little as possible is best.

They are going to ask you how much you want your payment to be around. DON'T answer them. Tell them you want to know what the car is costing you. Invoice usually. Have them work some numbers.
