Leather Sofas with dogs?
Good or bad idea. We have microfiber now and I HATE it. Need a new living room set and was wondering if leather was the way to go

I have friends that went this route and love it for the easy cleaning as well.
We have material bc we were afraid of his nails scratching the leather or poking holes in it. My sisters leather couch got messed up from her dog.
Microfiber isn't the only option. Our sofa is a strong material. Almost like corduroy but not - makes no sense I know but I can't explain it! It's as tough as corduroy tho.

we have an 85 lb boxer and a durablend couch from ashley, it looks like leather but its not actually all leather. it has held up beautifully. no scratches or holes. very easy to clean also, i wipe it down with pledge or clorox wipes.

Re: Leather Sofas with dogs?
I vote no, but that's because my dog is a digger. He's not supposed to be on the furniture at all, but when we're not home we know he digs/claws on the sofa cushion to get comfortable. Our beautiful leather sofa had scratches all over it within a week.

We have a 11 yo 50 lb Lab mix and a 9yo 18 lb Terrer mix. The lab is a licker and the terrier is sometines a gnawer or digger.
I have no clue what to even look for.

Re: Leather Sofas with dogs?
It depends if your dogs are allowed on the furniture. I have a husky and she is a hairy beast! She is not allowed on the furniture so leather couches have been the best thing ever!

Re: Leather Sofas with dogs?
We have a 110 lb lab and we got leather couches a year ago I couldn't take the dogs hair on the microfiber anymore...he is allowed on the couch I just put down a blanket so he lays on that but it's awesome when I take the blanket off and just wipe away the hair...we also really keep up on his nails which helps alot...there is some fine scratches from him but in my opinion it's better than a couch covered in hair

Re: Leather Sofas with dogs?
my parents have leather and so do we... we babysit their puggle alot. She sits on a blanket on the couches and knows to go to the spot where her blanket is.
occasionally she will jump and touch the leather, but it has been fine.

Awesome news... Jessie is close to 80lbs and the microfiber is not working out anymore... id like leather but if something does happen to it id be pissed... lol ... she wont chew it but she may scratch it accidentally.

ITA. My dogs are diggers too and they would destroy a leather couch.

Re: Leather Sofas with dogs?
<--- we have distressed leather...they are allowed on the couch & loveseat. They have puked & peed on them (my boy has medical issues) and it all cleans off. The distressing keeps nail marks from looking any different than the leather.
