Leslie Jones UPDATE
8/24- her website was taken down this morning after hackers got into her iCloud and posted nude photos, her drivers license and passport, as well as pictures of harambe the gorilla who was shot dead after the kid got into the enclosure at the zoo. The lengths these animals have gone to to publicly humiliate and bully her is viciously terrifying.

I'm kinda surprised this story hasn't made it on here. She left Twitter after being harassed by numerous people in the most vile way. The things posted about her on her direct page were so disgusting. It seems as if it all leads to this ultra conservative douche bag who is a writer for breitbart.com. The stuff said to her was so bad, Twitter permanently banned him (this was far from his first offense). This guy went as far as hacking into or creating a dummy account which made it look like she was saying horrible things. Someone sent her a picture of herself with semen on her face, multiple posts comparing her to a monkey. My stomach turned. This poor woman. No one deserves to be treated the way she has been over the past 24+ hours.
Now for my  This is our new America I suppose. The one Donald trump has created. This isn't about being PC. This is about common human decency. Who gives anyone the right to bully and harass a woman for what? Her looks? Her race? Her sex? It's disgusting. It needs to end.

I just read her last post. The things people are saying to her are vile. They are just jumping on the bandwagon. It's a movie. Don't like it, don't watch it. She does not deserve what people are doing to her.

That particular troll apparently has a history of starting anti-PC fights on Twitter. I assume it's bc he wants to make a name for himself, but Twitter has suspended his acct multiple times b/c of his trolling. I think this time was Twitter's final warning and they closed his account.
I get that there's freedom of speech - but hate speech and direct threats/attacks (in addition to getting your followers to attack) cross the line IMO.

According to this Buzzfeed article, this is Twitter's response:
People should be able to express diverse opinions and beliefs on Twitter. But no one deserves to be subjected to targeted abuse online, and our rules prohibit inciting or engaging in the targeted abuse or harassment of others. Over the past 48 hours in particular, we’ve seen an uptick in the number of accounts violating these policies and have taken enforcement actions against these accounts, ranging from warnings that also require the deletion of Tweets violating our policies to permanent suspension.
We know many people believe we have not done enough to curb this type of behavior on Twitter. We agree. We are continuing to invest heavily in improving our tools and enforcement systems to better allow us to identify and take faster action on abuse as it’s happening and prevent repeat offenders. We have been in the process of reviewing our hateful conduct policy to prohibit additional types of abusive behavior and allow more types of reporting, with the goal of reducing the burden on the person being targeted. We’ll provide more details on those changes in the coming weeks.
