Let me ask a question about weeks

When you say "I am going for my 36 weeks appt" are you 36 weeks and a few days or a few days shy of 36 weeks?
(assuming that you dont go the day your turn a different week)

After 9 months of pregnancy this still confused me!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

SO tomorrow I go see my OB and I will be 37 weeks and 4 days.

Is this my 37 week appointment or my 38 week appt?

Re: Let me ask a question about weeks

My appts happen to be exactly however many weeks (no days) - I'm due on a Monday and all my appts are on Mondays.

Re: Let me ask a question about weeks

I'm always a few days behind. At my 32 week appointment, I'll be 32 weeks and 4 days. I'm always x weeks and 4 days because all my appointments are on Mondays, but I always "go up a week" (I don't know how else to put it) on Thursdays.

Re: Let me ask a question about weeks

I never really "label" my appointments. Whether I go a few days before or a few days after, it's just my next appointment for that month or week. And when I get there, they'll say so you're just over 38 weeks or almost 39 weeks or in your 38th week.... It's really a guestimate so no one seems to make it an exact date.

Re: Let me ask a question about weeks

I was always 1-3 days over. The doctor I liked to see at my practice had office hours Wed-Fri. (Mon and Tues were his days at the hospital.) I started a new week on Tuesdays, so, for example, my 16 week appointment would be anywhere from 16 weeks 1 day, to 16 weeks 3 days. I took whatever day between Weds and Friday that had the most convenient time for me.

Re: Let me ask a question about weeks

I don't really say anything but if asked how far along I am I say the week I am currently in. I don't think it matters either way.

Re: Let me ask a question about weeks

I am always one day behind (due on Thursday, appts on Wednesdays).

So at my 20 week anatomy scan I was 19 weeks, 6 days.

Re: Let me ask a question about weeks

I am usually a day behind. Most of my appointments have been on Wednesdays and I am due on a Thursday. I always count up. So my next appt next Wednesday will be my 21 week appt, even though I am technically 20 weeks 6 days that day.

Re: Let me ask a question about weeks

I'm already usually a few days into the week when I say I'm at that weeks appointment. Like I'm 36 weeks and 2 days and I'm going to my 36 week appointment today...I've even had appointments where I am 5 or 6 days into the week and I still round down.

Re: Let me ask a question about weeks

It usually depends on my schedule...but there's usually about a 3-5 day float range.

I try to double check when I'm making my appt if I will be ok for what they need to test/measure/check during that next appt. All of my appts so far have been 4 wks apart.
