Let the Party Planning Begin!
DH spoke with the Rabbi tonight and we have a confirmed date for Abigail's baby naming (TBA at a later time).
This holy event is VERY meaningful to us for a multitude of reasons.
#1 - It marks a rite of passage that will introduce our daughter into her faith - the same faith that brought her father and I together.
#2 - She will be named for both of my parents as well as DH's grandfather.
Typically, a Jewish child is given a Hebrew first and middle name that honors a person who has passed. If you name a girl for a male, you find a female equivalent for that name and give it to the child - and vice versa if you name a boy for a female. Abigail will be receivng not only the first name for my father, but a middle name for DH's grandfather and a SECOND middle name in Hebrew for my mother who passes away when I was 5 months pregnant.
We look forward to a lovely celebration that will not only honor Abigail, but the people for whom she is named. My family has had a rough few years with my siblings and I losing both of our parents in such a short period of time. This little angel has raised us all up and I cannot wait to celebrate her.
But I will say that its bittersweet. I'd have this party at White Castle if my parents could be there .

I always felt my Mother's spirit in Abby. The day Mom died, Abby started kicking me and did not stop til she was born. Mom was fiesty like that. Dad was an even keeled gentle soul and I feel him through her as well as she is just a lil mush!
