Letmetryit this way: Seperation anxiety ina 5 month old?!?!
Is it even possible? Anyone have experience with this? How do I handle it? How can i help the people watching her learn how to calm her? I try telling everyone things she likes, but they don't work for them. Should I be trying to figure out something else it could be,although i have NO idea what.

Re: Letmetryit this way: Seperation anxiety ina 5 month old?!?!
Ian started it at 7 months and still has it now at almost 11 months, but no where near as bad. now if he knows the person he wont cry. but if he doesnt know u, forgetaboutit.
i would stay in the room but have someone else hold her until she calms down. she still sees you, but can get comfortable being held by someone else.
this is a cr@ppy phase and hope she grows out of it soon.

Definitely!!! Rylan started at 6 months...ped said it was very early but it was def seperation anxiety. It lasted until about 1 1/2 and got so bad at one point I couldn't even leave him with his father. He would literally stand at the door and cry until I got home. Fingers crossed but at almost 8 months no sign of it with Xavier yet...lol.

Re: Letmetryit this way: Seperation anxiety ina 5 month old?!?!
YES!!! DD had Stranger anxiety at 4-5 months. She would FREAK if it was anyone other than DH or I that would come near her, hold her, etc. She got a little better around 7 months. Then, unfortunately SEPARATION anxiety kicked in. This was different. All she wanted was MAMA. Fine with playing with others, being around others, but if you tried to hold her or take her away from me- FORGET IT!!! DD will be 1 on the 23rd and in the past 2-3 weeks I'm happy to report she is MUCH MUCH better!! I would just say hang in there... Be as social as you can, let them know it's OK and encourage interaction (without pushing them). Eventually, they will get over it. But SO HARD!!!! I know...
