Lets check in... how is DC doing??
I figured we should have a thread to see how the kiddies are doing with school, EI services, and what great things they are doing.
I'll start.
Ryan just turned 3 last month. He is really doing well at school. He started taking the bus (which he proudly calls the "gool buh" aka school bus) and this is probably the highlight of his day. He is much more verbal and has his own little language now, most of which I can't understand. I spoke with his teacher last week and she has noticed what a difference a couple of weeks have made with him. He is less frustrated and able to communicate better, so all in all, good news to report! He is currently undergoing on OT eval so I am waiting on that. He has regressed as far as sleeping goes. He used to sleep through the night for 12 hour clips, but now wakes up a few times screaming to come into our bed.. so this is a work in progress.
What about everyone else?

Re: Lets check in... how is DC doing??
We are in the middle of putting the schedule together for the EI. We should start in 2-3 weeks.
Lots of improvements lately.
- DS started to eat the Gerber bowls for Toddler and not mixing everything with Stage 2 or 3. - He started eating diced fruits - He knows to look for a clippo and get it when I tell him "where are the clippos?" - He took my hand yesterday and pull me out of the chair for me to get him something (HUGE!!!!) - He brought me a mega block a few days ago for me to look at it (HUGE also!!!). - He started "babbling" again. For a few weeks when we started the EI evalutation, he had started making "sounds" but with no lips moving. Not he is back at saying "ga ga ga" and looking at object when he speaks. I feel a bit relieved. His speech (even the little bit he had!!!) was completely gone for a few weeks. - We went to see 2 schools this week. And picked a mommy and me class.

Re: Lets check in... how is DC doing??
My ds has been in school since September and is almost 3 1/2. He now says: Bue Cue (blue's clues) waves bye bye and says "by" says Add..ie for daddy "ug" for hug just started answering yes and no questions, such as do you want to read, etc. tries to say his sister's names blows kiss and gives kiss on cheek. has started throwing away his garbage and is almost #1 trained on the potty...number #2 whole other story.
I can't say how much EI and specialized preschool has helped. This time last year when we just had him evaluated he was completely mute and so much different then he is now.
Glad to see so much progress made for everyone's little ones!

Re: Lets check in... how is DC doing??
I really like this- it's nice to see how others progress. DS is 4 and Autistic. He currently recieves 2 hrs. ABA in the morning and goes to school for 4 hours. He currently is mastering all his programs and is doing well. He is doing PECS for communication because he doesn't speak. His sounds are great but has very little words. He's very social and has no behavioral problems what so ever but our biggest obsticle is language and controlling his stimming. I'm hoping and praying his language comes in. Right now we are trying to figure out his best placement for Sept. I'm not sure if Kindergarten is right for him (he will def. not be mainstreamed) or if a special program outside of K will be better. I live out east and my options are very limited. *sigh* Our next goal is to master potty training.

Re: Lets check in... how is DC doing??
unfortunitly not so good on my end. my ds has sensory processing disorder (21 months).
eating is a nightmare still and his vomitting has increased a lot. almost once a meal and even at random times during the day. the worst part is he knows right before what is about to happen and he starts crying hysterically b/c it hurts him and he doesn't want to throw up. and ther's nothing i can do. he throws up everything now, even the food heused to be fine with.
we just had a $450 eval with a feeding therapist (slp) and she's writing up a plan for us but josh is so far doing worse on it.
we are also waiting for a new slp from ei(our current wasted 6 months by doing NOTHING for ds) but they can't find one that is good with feeding and fits our crazy schedule.
ot and pt are ok. no major progress in either except his own maturing. but he really doesn't have major issues with fine or gross motor skills just stength, over activity and balance.
his language has exploded though and this kids says 6 word sentences that he makes up on his own! he knows everything and is so beyond smart for his age. when he pooped today he told me "mommy clean my butt please. butt stinky, P.U." so i started his diaper and he said "clean my butt, clean my balls, clean my penis! " i was peeing in my pants! he's been using "the", "and", "too" "a" properly in sentences and ending words with "ing".
i'm so glad to hear everyone's dc's are doing so well. we should def. keep this post up, it's a great idea!

Re: Lets check in... how is DC doing??
I'm glad to hear about everyone's updates!
Matteo is currently in EI still, but he will be 'aging out' soon. So we had the CPSE evals. Still have an OT one this week but that's teh last one. He'll continue most likely with Speech, and maybe PT. Not sure about OT as he never had an evaluation for it before. So we'll see! I'll let you know when we hear!
As for speech, he started with not really many words at all at 18 months when he started therapy, and now has well over 200 words, but we're still working on getting him to use them in 2-4 word sentences more consistently. And also Articulation, which is what he'll most likely qualify for when he turns 3. :) PT he's doing good, still has a tough time on the steps but he loves climbing and jumping and playing so I'm happy and he is too. :)

Re: Lets check in... how is DC doing??
So great to hear how everyone's doing
Jack is doing awesome as well. He's been getting a full schedule of ABA, PT & OT since August and went from not even saying mommy to have a ridiculous vocab. He'll likely qualify for speech for articulation for the fall and OT for some slight sensory issues, but this is just me guessing. It's amazing how EI can transform a child right before your eyes, although I often wonder if it was an age thing as well. Like, would he have done all these things anyway without it? Regardless, I'm just happy he's progressing and staying the happy little boy I know through the process.
We're in the process of researching programs for next year CPSE in case he qualifies (which is probable)
We started a speech class at a local college that meets once a week and we're off to the 2nd class now. So far, he loved it though!!

Re: Lets check in... how is DC doing??
Sophia is doing great. She is getting a modified ABA program and is really taking off. She is learning so quickly and has finally started talking. She is now almost repeating everything we say (in her own way : ) ) and she is spontaneously saying about 25 words about.
She is starting preschool in Sept which she'll have a SEIT.
These past 3 months have been amazing for her. I'm so proud of her!!
