Let's share kid friendly recipes
I know I am sometimes looking for someting different to feed JAG, as I bet others are with their kids. So the post is: List a recipe that you make for your chilld (please list your childs age as some recipes may not be suitable for soe ages) OOh and if the recipe is already listed, you have to come up with something else.

Re: Let's share kid friendly recipes
OK, I can't sleep, so I'll take the bait. Great thread, Deb!
I make Ava, 12.5 months, chicken "fingers". I cut a chicken breast into strips, dredge in either honey mustard dressing or Italian dressing and then in crushed whole wheat crackers, place on a cookie sheet lined with foil and sprayed with cooking spray for 15 minutes at 375. She LOVES them. I try not to overcook them because they get dry. You can also make life even easier and use the chicken tenderloins, which are even easier, no cutting involved. Plus, they are softer for younger babies.
I serve it with homemade sweet potato "fries". I skin a sweet potato, cut into strips, spray with cooking spray (or you can brush with olive oil if you have a skinny minny who needs some fat), sprinkle with cinnamon and a little bit of brown sugar, lay out on a baking sheet covered with foil and sprayed with cooking spray. Bake for about 10-15 minutes on 375. You have to watch them because depending on how thick or thin you cut them, cooking times will vary. They burn quickly, so really keep an eye on them. For Ava, it stops there, but when JT and I eat them, we mix a couple of tablespoons of light sour cream with one tablespoon of organic maple syrup as a dipping sauce. I would give that to Ava if she didn't have a milk allergy.

Re: Let's share kid friendly recipes
When my kids are on a "dont want to eat anything" kick, I always know that if I make them pastina or any small pasta dish, its a sure thing!
I simple boil any small pasta (their favorite is the sesame street organic alphabet pasta) in low sodium chicken broth, sometimes i will cut up carrots or any veggies i have in the fridge for nutritional value!)
boil till tender, drain &add butter and either grated or fresh american cheese. My kids have been eating this since they were about 10 months old.

Re: Let's share kid friendly recipes
also- a lot of times my DH isnt home at night, so instead of cooking, I will make my kids breakfast food for dinner-
cheese omelet w/whole wheat toast&some cut up grapes, or whole wheat french toast w/strawberries&blueberries. (they are 1 1/2&2 1/2)
