Levittown taxes
We are planning to buy a house in Levittown this year with a maxium house value of $400,000. I heard Levittown has the highest school taxes in LI. Are the taxes really high in Levittown and do they go up every year?

Re: Levittown taxes
Here's a thread that may help you: Thread from FHF
For what it's worth, my Dad pays $12k in West Babylon, I pay $10k in West Islip. Taxes are high in general. According to that thread taxes might be slightly lower in the Island Trees SD in Levittown.

Levittown taxes
Taxes go up every year no matter where you live so I would count on that no matter what.

Re: Levittown taxes
I sell a lot in Levittown. School taxes for Levittown SD are a bit higher than in some surrounding districts - Island Trees, Hicksville, East Meadow, Farmingdale. Those areas have some of the lowest taxes in Nassau.
But other surrounding school districts to Levittown - Wantagh, N. Bellmore, Plainedge - have similarly high taxes.
Taxes pretty much go up everywhere, every year. In Levittown SD, the basic STAR exemption is currently close to $1700, so that helps offset (generally higher school taxes = higher STAR amount).
I wouldn't rule it out just because of taxes. There are still some really good deals in Levittown. I think it's good value when you look at schools, parks, pools, etc.
If you can afford the monthly outlay of what taxes and mortgage payment will equal, you are good, so perhaps the slightly lower prices in Levittown will still make it more affordable, despite higher taxes.

Levittown taxes
Island Trees SD in Levittown has very low taxes in comparison to some other Nassau County homes. We don't pay anything close to 10k for our house in Levittown.

Levittown taxes
Same with Massapequa - my understanding is that it's because of the mall that our taxes are so offset compared to other neighborhoods... And the schools are excellent.

Re: Levittown taxes
Hi we bought a Levittown cape in 2005 paying $7300 in taxes. Before we dormered in 2009 we were paying $9200. These r before star prices. In 2009 we added a double dormer making the home into a colonial and our taxes went to 13800. This was before star and grieving. We have grieved every year since. We now pay $10800 with star.
The taxes are high all over Nassau county. We love Levittown though. Great neighbors, free pools, parks nearby, and tons of programs for kids.
