Library fees
We borrowed a cd which of course is only a 7 day rental. But we're not done with our books yet, so we'll be back there in a few more days. What do libraries charge for late fees?

Re: Library fees
It depends on the library. I didn't even know that libraries charged late fees until I was in college.

Re: Library fees
Really?? I was always early with returning, so I never had to pay them. I think the last time I paid was college and it was about .30. That was an ouch factor! It was about a nickel a day. Do libraries change fees with inflation?
Oh, we're in Queens. And I looked it up. For books, it's 25cents a day, but video materials, they charge $1. a day. CD's aren't video though, so I'm still clueless.

I used to work in Queens, but they changed the fees/fines since I left. I'm surprised they lowered the fine for video. They used to charge $3 a day for adult video, and $1 for children's video. Music Cd's used to be .10 a day.

Re: Library fees
Our library charges 5 cents a day... IMO it should be a bit higher because I'm not going to run out and return it on the due date if I can wait a few days.

Re: Library fees
When I was in college, the librarian said "That will be 25 cents."
I said "for what?"
She said "your book is late".
I said "yes I know. Here it is."
The conversation went back & forth at least 2 more times with her repeating my book was late and me saying "here you can have it back."
Finally my boyfriend from my hometown said "They charge for late books." I was flabbergasted. The librarian was even more shocked that there was a library that doesn't charge.

Just an FYI....libraries in Nassau County make their own lending policy, so certain items might not be renewable.
