Lice in School
DD is in Kindergarten. This morning one of her friends - her BFF!! told me she was home from school yesterday because she had lice So I didn't say anything to her but I told the teacher and said this is exactly what she said, it could be her 5 year old self making a story up but it did seem real to me. Teacher thanked me and said she would handle it.
Fast forward to pick up and the teacher was walking out with the kids and said to me "we took them to the school nurse and they got checked and everyone is okay" so I said "thats great so it must have been a story" and she said " oh no because there was evidence in XYZ's head" but that none of the kids had any.
So what are the chances that DD will catch them now?
She is off school for the next four days so I really dont want to have to wrap her up in oil or whatever we are supposed to do as a preventative measure etc...but if I have to I will.
Also do you think the teachers should have sent a note home with the kids to say that they may have been exposed or not? We didn't get any notes and the only reason I knew about it is because I brought it up. I guess the parents will figure it out if the kids tell them the nurse was combing their hair today!!
Thanks

Re: Lice in School
When I used to teach I shampooed and conditoned with Tea Tree Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. The little bugs don't like the smell of it.

Re: Lice in School
Ugh, they've been in our school too. And we thought they were taken care of and then this Monday a note went out to one of the classes that they are back.
Ulta sells the Fairy Tales Rosemary Repel line in stores too, at the very least I'd get the leave in spray conditioner.
Also, put her hair up in pony tails or braids, and use gel or hairspray, they don't like dirty hair.

Re: Lice in School
Thanks. Do you guys use the repellant shampoo year round or just when there is an outbreak?
DD is not going to like her hair up - maybe braids might do the trick - anytime I put her hair up she takes it down half way through the day.
