Lifing heavy things
Please don't think I'm crazy. I'm in my first month and wondering if it's safe for me to lift heavy things? I just lifted and carried a heavy box into another office and now I'm freaking out.

I don't there's any reason to freak out - It's not the BEST thing for you to do, so I'd avoid it whenever possible - but carrying a box here or there is not going to kill you - Don't stress !!

Re: Lifing heavy things
We're packing and moving, so during weeks 18-20 (and before) i lifted a ton of things. I dont think it's a big deal. I may have placenta previa, and I asked my dr. if the lifting had anything to do with that, and she said no. The one thing I do try to be careful with is resting boxes on my now larger belly. I used to buy the 35 packs of water from BJs and rest it on my belly to hoist into the car, and last time my belly really hurt after.

Re: Lifing heavy things
I lifted a heavy box at work last week and then panicked afterwards. I'm sure it is fine, but I would try not to do it again.

I would really try not to lift throughout your pregnancy. Sometimes it's ahrd to avaoid but just be cautious.

Re: Lifing heavy things
Definitely try to avoid it. I was better with the beginning of my pregnancy because I was so nervous. But now I'm probably lifting what I shouldn't - I'm just the type that hates to ask for help. Though it is kinda fun to say "I'm pregnant and not sure I should do this- can you help?"

Re: Lifing heavy things
I wouldn't do it. Even though I don't remember lifting anything, my doctor thinks *something LIKE this* or a sudden strange movement may've caused the baby's connection to my uterus to tear away a bit and cause a clot.
