Lightweight Stroller Rave
OK So I don't post alot of reviews on strollers mainly because I have an obsession with them and usually buy to try then I sell. But I know the question about lightweight strollers gets asked here often so I thought someone might find my review helpful.
DD is 16 months old and I have been through at least that many strollers.
However just recently I was just down to my Bugaboo and P3 and I needed something lightweight and easy to use for the Sitters house.
So this time my mission to buy a stroller was a need and not a want.
Now I have had a few lightweight strollers pass through my place including 3 Maclarens (2 Quests and a Techno) Combi something or the other, Valco Buggster and Silver Cross Micro.
Each had a feature that caused me not to "love" it so off to Craigslist it went.
However having 3 Maclarens I was spoiled by their steering. IMO the Maclaren has the best steering for a lightweight stroller but it is freakishly tippy and I'm a bag hanger...it became annoying to make sure each time I took DD out to remove any bags and everytime she came out the stroller it would tip back.
However I loved the Maclarens for their steering and compact fold so I was on the hunt for a stroller with similar qualities but less of a tippy factor. It's hard now that DD is getting older/heavier to find a lightweight stroller that steers well that is not a Maclaren or Bugaboo.
So heres were my wants...lightweight (under 15lbs), good steering with an older toddler, deep recline for naps, high handle bars (DH is almost 6 ft) compact and easy fold and open and I was trying to keep it under $150.
Looking for all of this limited my options. In my search I checked out the new Chicco Liteway and the Uppa Baby G-Luxe, Chicco Capri, Graco Mosaic/Ipo.
I shlepped DD with me to BRU and BBB without her stroller to try her in them. All of them had a negative (mainly the way it pushed with DD). Then I came across the Inglesina Swift.
It was sitting in the corner of BBB looking all lonely. It wasn't bright and colorful (Definitely not a head turner) but when I tried DD out in it I fell in love. It has high handles, steers as good as a Maclaren, has the easy Maclaren fold and open, has a deep recline and costs $99. I had a 20% off coupon plus I took the floor model and got an extra 10% off so I only paid $70. I think they raised the prices for 2009 to $120 but still a great deal.
Also Inglesina is a very good well known stroller manufacturer and you can tell the construction on the stroller is good quality.
So in case anyone is looking for a lightweight stroller but doesn't want to spend Maclaren money this is an excellent value and is as good if not better IMO than a Maclaren. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Lightweight Stroller Rave
I tried this stroller and loved it! However I think this one had a 40lb weight limit right? DS is about 35lbs so it didn't make sense for me to get it and I can't see spending so much money on the Maclaren. Glad you found one you love!!!

I hope I don't offend any Uppa G Luxe owners but I thought for the price it looked cheap and the Swift steered much better. Also I should mention that I love the seat on the Swift because where it ends and DDs knees go is curved. The Gluxe wheels were also very rattly even on the carpet at BBB.

Re: Lightweight Stroller Rave
Is it less tippy than the Mclarens? I'm a bag hanger too. My only other wish to add to yours is a snack tray. Otherwise if the Inglesia is less tippy I may try it.

Yes much less tippy than a Maclaren which is what I wanted. Of course. Its still a lightweight stroller so if you hang too much stuff it will tip but that's with any lightweight stroller. The Maclarens just happen to be extra tippy to the point of annoying.

Re: Lightweight Stroller Rave
I bought this stroller last July and I am VERY happy with it. It doenst tip, I put my diaper bag and other bags on the back and the only tiem it has tipped is when I had about 10 bags from Target on it and took DS out.
It folds up small and its easy to handle with just one hand when putting in the trunk.
I also love the recline feature, I did alot of research as when I got it DS was only 7 months and we were going on vacation and I needed something he could sleep in. It has a 3 position recline and I liked that it didnt have the annoying "strings" to recline like some other lightweight strollers had. Also I felt it had a better canopy than the IPO.
I am 100% happy with it. I have never had a Maclaren as I didnt want to spend the money so I can't compare but this is a great stroller.
BTW, DS is over 30lbs and 34 inches at 15 months and he is still very comfy!
