LIRR Commuters-
Peak time starts @ 4:30- right?
And how bad is that 4:30 train on a Friday- better, worse, the same as all other peak trains (meaning how "filled")
What about the 3:55 (or whatever it is) I know its considered "off peak" but is it busy as well?
Im taking DS to see Sesame St live tomorrow, and the show starts @ 2- Im assuming its a 1.5-2hr show...
We may leave the show a little early to catch the 4 o'clock train- if necessary...
Just looking for a little insight... Ive never traveled peak time before...

i rarely ever leave that early but when i do it is packed but theres no people standing. You'll be able to get a seat

4:19 is first peak on my line
it will be crowded on a Friday - but it will be crowded probably up until 9p
It's going to be crowded I think no matter what train you take.
You can try asking at the window what track the train is leaving on instead of waiting for it to flash on the screen, so you can get a head start to the platform

4:24pm is the first Peak train on the Ronkonkoma Line and that train is crowded but not too bad

I think it will be worse because of the 3 day weekend.
You should be better off on the 3:55 than any train after 4pm. It's not a holiday where everyone leaves early unless they're going away. Stay away from Amtrack. That will be packed.

try to get to the train like 10 to 15 minutes, before it is leaving and it shouldn't be that bad. also if possible go the back of the train. does anyone else concur with me?
