Little girls and beauty pageants
what do you think about them?
for some reason, I just remembered that while DH and I were in GA last month, we saw a few little girls and their moms down in the lobby of our hotel. these girls had FULL ON makeup - they were probably 5 or 6! 
we were sitting in the area where they serve breakfast and 1 of the mom's told her daughter to blot her lipstick. I'm thinking... OMG! she shouldn't even know what that means at 5! 
ETA: there must have been a cheerleading competition going on as well. these PRE TEENS were wearing belly shirts and low rise skirts that barely covered their crotch! DH and I were repulsed by that!

I don't see nothing wrong with it, but only until they are a little bit older to make that decision.

I guess I thought that a 5 yr old blotting her lipstick was over the top. it's like they can't even be kids!

I find it a bit annoying. I don't think kids that young should be in beauty pageants. I think 9 and over is okay.

I find it beyond creepy.
There is plenty of time to be obsessed with looks in a girl's future. Not one of them need that kind of encouragement IMO. I'd rather see them focus on other aspects of their personality.

agreed..I think when they are this young you are breeding future adutls with self esteem problems and eating disorders.
