Little things that make you HAPPY!
I found a bike last night. Someone had put it next to the dumpster along with other things since they were moving. It was in perfectly good condition and just needed air.
I have a bike at my parents house but never took it because we have an apartment and I am afraid of it getting rusty from rain outside or stolen. But a free bike on the other hand - not so much!
I rode it to school this morning and it just felt so GOOD.
What's the last little thing that made you feel truly happy?

I was in target on what I guess was the last day of school last week.
I saw all the kids in there with their parents- running around all happy that school was done. Plus they had out all the summer things- sunscreen, beach toys, patio furniture...
It took me right back to when I was a kid and this was the most incredible euphoric time of the year....
Reminded me of why I love summer more than any other time of the year -hands down!

I would be thrilled to find a bike too!
Last night I was tired and cranky and didn't want to be bothered after cooking supper. So I cleaned up, took a shower and headed upstairs with my most recent book. My younger son followed me up the stairs and I was soooo aggravated that he couldn't leave me to enjoy a few minutes on my own. I laid in bed flipped on the light and proceeded to ignore him. He climbed up in bed with me and just lay there while I read. I turned and he was just staring at me holding onto his hulk figure and pig keychain. I said "What are you doing?" and he said "Watching you." So I said "WHY? Don't you want to be downstairs with Daddy and Robbie? They are having ice cream and watching SpiderMan." He said "I love you. You are beautiful. I just want to sit with you." I felt like a jerk.. and I felt indescribably happy all at once.

This morning when I got home from the gym two chickadees landed on my car windshield wiper on the divers side and looked at me. Then they started chittering at me to feed them. It made me smile, they were so cute. (and yes, i filled all their feeders)

If i am ever having a bad day, where i am upset, all i have to do is go to starbucks and get a white mocha and it makes everything so much better!
I lived with my inlaws for 10 months while the house was in construction and it was Rough...I would find myself at starbucks alot

Looking out my window this morning and seeing the baby bunny that has been in our yard for the last few days munching in a clover patch..

Seeing wildlife. I especially love seeing the rabbits that live in my garden.
Getting all green lights on the way to work.
Having no line at the store.
Finding something you love, and realizing it's on sale too!
Meetings at work that involve food. Especially cookies.
Helping people.
Reading my student comments at the end of the year and seeing some of them say that I am the best teacher they ever had, or that I changed their lives.
Getting notes from students that say they couldn't have gotten through school without my help.
DH tucking me in and kissing me good night when he thinks I am asleep.
The smell of fabric softener.
Having the water temperature for the shower be the right temp without having to adjust it.
CHOCOLATE!

Spending the day with my grandparents while I was in NY last week was the best. We went to the casino and they were winning like crazy on the slots... which they say never happens. They said it was b/c I was with them and was their good luck charm. Seeing them all giddy and happy made me so happy!

My heart just skipped a beat. I hope someday I have a little boy who will say things like that to me. You are so lucky~!!!!!

oh i've got tons!!
well, lately, i'll show kenneth pics of christopher. i'll hold them up in front of him and he looks at them.
well, i go to take the pic away the other day as his BP started going up from looking at christopher and he reaches up and GRABS it out of my hand which takes a lot for him to do that. i was like oh kenneth - i can't have your pressure going up so he gives me this LOOK like "i know, i know" kind of raises his eyebrows and hands the picture TO ME.
it was like INSTA-CRY but i held back b/c i don't want to show him i'm upset or anything.
the best is when he cradles my mom's face with his hand - he did it to me the other day. then, when my dad turned his back kenneth patted it!
ooh and my fave...
he has this little sensor on the index finger of his left hand. it is adhesive and has a wire coming out of it that shows is oxygen level. the other day we were talking about how hard it is for him to move his left side because the injury is on the right side of the brain -- but he is able to move it which is pretty amazing. but he moves his right hand A LOT so they had to restrain him b/c he ripped the feeding tube out of his nose lol. so, i see him thinking and thinking... finally, he moves the left hand AS FAR OVER as the restraint will allow... then, he moves his RIGHT hand over... and over... and over... until they meet.
i'm like oh kenneth good!! then - all of a sudden - he starts trying to rip the sensor on his index finger off w/ the other hand!!! i'm like NO KENNETH!! NO!! BAD!!  three other police officers were with me at the time and we all had a good laugh - he totally threw us all for a loop.
i love these little things.

"AWOL" fries make me happy, but I always feel guilty afterwards for even ordering them in the first place.

My DH makes fun of me when I get all excited when I see Hawks circling above or if I spot an Osprey.
I love watching my DD explore outside. She loves seeing the bunnies and smelling flowers.
and DS's laugh warms my heart.

The last little thing that made me REALLY happy was just 2 minutes ago -- I watched this video of Debbie McDonald and Brentina competing in the Olympic selection trials for Dressage.
Okay, it might be like watching paint dry to someone else, but it was SO FUN for me - poetry in motion. (If you do watch, at least get through until the music starts... since that's when the test actually begins.  )
Nothing makes me happier than seeing this kind of partnership between humand and animals. I LOVE horses - look what they do for us.

two things...........
1. when my son asked me to come to his class to read a poem i had written. he knew i wrote/write poetry and he wanted me to share with his class the poem i wrote on the day he was born.
2. when i went to mother's day tea at my daughters school and she read a letter she wrote to me and she told me i was her hero and when she grows up she wants to be just like me.
talk about crying my eyes out

i know how powerful those moments are.
for me, the most recent would be that my dad called me on sunday. as we're chatting he mentioned how he's watering the plants and having an orange from his tree... so forth and so on. we always say "i love you" when we hang up, yesterday's "i love you" felt stronger. i know he truly meant it! i cried a little when we hung up.
