Livingroom Colors - Idea with Accent Color?

DH and I are picking up an armoire this week off of Craigslist which is a red (not in your face red.. but a nice color) - we are doing our walls in mercer blue and our moldings in craft white .. Do you think its ok to accent in red? Or do you think it will make the room like all patriotic? I am thinking if we go with blue and white with the red accent.. what color LR furniture do we look for?

One piece of furniture is monkey wrenching my thoughts....

I think neutral or earthtone colors would look great to work around the wall color and the armoire. It will not make it look "patriotic". I love having a standout accent piece. In my house, the main decor is mediterranean mixed with french country. I then bought a handpainted Oriental armoire as an accent piece in the livingroom.

I can't see the armoir pic, but I think a tan accent color (like the ceiling color) would be perfect!

If you don't over due to red, I don't think it would look bad. If you leave the red piece of furniture red, maybe just add red accent pillows or a red vase, but nothing too much. Not too bold. Keep the red muted and not a bright red color. Love that color blue.
