LMSW - need new job
I'll spare everyone the details, but my job has not been making me (or other staff) happy for a long time. I've gone to our board of directors, and they did nothing. I spoke with the Executive Director (who is causing the problems), and nothing has changed. I am over worked, overwhelmed, and under appreciated ---- welcome to the field of social work!
I enjoy counseling, and that's what I want to do. I have my LMSW, and have 3 years of experience, as well as experience supervising interns.
If anyone knows of ANY jobs hiring LMSWs, please let me know!! Thank you!

Re: LMSW - need new job
My job is frequently hiring MSW-level people for case management positions.
I am not sure if that interests you, because it does involve field work. Having a clinical background is extremely helpful though and there are perks working for the agency, such as flexible schedule and you don't HAVE to be in the office all of the time.
We deal with a lot too, and I think most of it is just specific to working with people in need, being a "host" environment, not being supervised by social workers, as well as just lack of resources, tougher cases and all employees, despite role, having to be spread really thin.
My supervisor also has very high expectations of the staff he hires and expects them to be extremely self-sufficient. I have seen some turnover with newer staff/newer grads this year because of this reason combined with the type of clientele we serve.
If you are interested, I don't mind passing on a resume. I expect him to be hiring again in the early quarter of 2012.
We also have created an informal support network amongst ourselves as employees because our boss is just so busy and spread thin himself. Maybe that is an option for you as well in the meantime?
