LOCAL 3 electricians and wives......any word on this crazy layoff?
DH had a mini breakdown yesterday and is just plain terrified of what's going on.....
We are fine financially, but seriously! This is crazy.....he says he may not even go back in the SPRING!
How's everyone else doing????

I'm local 25 .. but still Union Electrician wife.
We're holding on - but our savings is pretty much depleted because of Christmas. His SUB is empty and he really doesn't expect to go back to work for over a year.. not this summer but NEXT summer.
He was out for 13 months, back on for 3 and now out again for the last month or so. This means he only has another few months left on unemployment before we aren't even getting THAT. But I hear things are at least slightly better for Local 3. It's scary.. but things have a way of working out. Hang in there.

DH just got sent to another job so he's seems safe for now - but yes, very scary.
Something needs to change in the construction industry soon or NY is going to be in trouble.

I was out 27 weeks since last December. I was given a ONE WEEK ticket but they kept me 11 weeks in June/July. Have been out since July 31. I don't even bother calling to find out status.
My friend was out the same initial 27 weeks. We went back to work the same day. He worked 3 weeks, 3 days. So he didn't even make the end of June. He has zero unemployment and zero benefits left from the union.

sorry to jump in. I have a very good friend who keeps getting a job and then he is laid off for a month, then gets a job for about 3 weeks, then laid off again. I feel so bad for him and his wife it so hard because they never know when he will get called in or have to go to unemployment, they cant even coordinate childcare b/c of it. to all of you hang in there
