local day trips to take an almost one year old...
We took some days off and are not sure where we can take DS. I feel like he's too young for many destinations like Sesame Place or the LI Game Farm. Any recommendations for day trips, preferrably somewhere that is less than an hour drive or on LI that a one year old would be old enough to enjoy?

I think a local farm... there is one in queens that I know of and it has ducks that you could feed and it is a big hit... there are a million animals and right next to it is a zoo
It is in flushing meadow park....
have fun wherever you end up goingqueens zoo

Harbes farm in Manituck. There are some animals and they usually have pony rides. There is plenty of grass for kids to run around or even lay a blanket down and sit.

My DD is 16 months and we recently brought her to White Post Farms and Atlantis Aquarium - she loved both places.
We also brought her to Sesame Place on July 4th. It is only a 2 hour drive from here and she was able to do so much there - she had such a blast.

We took DS to the Bronx Zoo and he loved it! Much more than we thought he would. We plan to take him to the Aquarium sometime soon as well. You could do the Riverhead Aquarium or the one in Coney Island.
ETA: There is also the zoo at the Holstville Ecology Center.

Thanks - I didn't even know there was a zoo at the Ecology Center!
