Local HOliday fun stuff with the kids?
Does anyone have ideas of local fun things to do with kids? Even 2-3hr driving distance is ok, if its a fun area to stay in.
we're considering Christmas in Hershey.
Has anyone gone?
How about North Pole, NY ?

i heard about the north pole and i really want to do it this year. how far away is it? and where do you stay?
also other things i am considering
a show and the tree in the city
the holiday lights at jones beach

North Pole is about 5 1/2 hours away (in Wilmington). My friends took their kids 2 years ago and said it was fun, but a little "outdated".

id love to take my boys into the city, its convincing my hubby 
I can barely convince him on a quiet sunday in the summer, never mind during the holiday rush...
maybe i'll get tkts to soemthng so we HAVE TO GO

Yes we have to. After the christening we have to set a date to exchange christmas gifts.
It's a shame John won't drive into the city. Although I certainly understand why. Driving into the city is a nightmare!
I know it would too much but what about taking the LIRR in? Not you with the kids alone but with John as well.

you wont take the LIRR with one, but i should with 3 
I would because Im dying to go into the city although I dont know if it would be as enjoyable as Id like it to be  
maybe I should leave them all home and trek in myself 
ETA: ITs not so much that he wont drive in, he doesnt wanna BE there period, whether by car, plane or broomstick pain in the neck he is

I think they are lighting the Christmas tree at EAB plaza in Uniondale tomorrow at 6:30PM. They have an ice rink there too.
