Long Island Children's Museum Questions
Would this be a fun place for an almost 2 y/o or is it meant for kids a little older?
Would I be INSANE to go this week while schools are closed?

Re: Long Island Children's Museum Questions
There is a younger toddler room for babies which I think a child around 2 would like alot. There's also a music room that they can bang on the instruments. So yes, I think they will have fun although you will have to help them with stuff. And yes, I'm sure it will be crowded on a week that kids are off but we went on a weekend and it wasn't too bad. It's pretty large.

Re: Long Island Children's Museum Questions
the first time I took dd she was only a year old and just starting to walk. She loved it, however I went in the summer when there were a ton of kids from summer camps. It was crazy and she was getting pushed around and knocked down. The kids are a lot older and it's hard for the little ones to actually play. If you go next week try to go as early as possible. but your dc should really enjoy it. it's worth giving it a try.

Re: Long Island Children's Museum Questions
I think we might try it this week while I am on school break. Do you think getting there at 10 am when it opens will help with the crowds... or will everyone be thinking the same thing?

Don't forget to check with your local library. Ours has free passes for 4 people to the museum.

Re: Long Island Children's Museum Questions
My daughter goes there often with my mom - she absolutely loves it. She started going when she was around 2. She loves the 'little kid' room, the blocks, the mirrors, the bubbles and the beach (where they can play with sand).
there is also a room where you can sit and eat - there are vending machines (snacks, drinks, hot pockets type filled sandwiches). Most people bring a lunch.
It's a great place.
