long road trip with a toddler?

What is the longest road trip you would take (or have taken) with a 16-month-old toddler?

Re: long road trip with a toddler?

DS was 15m when we drove to VA and back, about 7-8 hrs each way. We timed it so that we left early in the morning so he'd sleep, wake to eat, then nap... it worked out great. We had toy cars, a portable dvd player with laurie berkner and yo gabba gabba dvds, and of course, his favorite blankey. I'd do it again any time!

We have taken DS to NH 3 times. It is usually a 6 hour trip but it has taken us 10 (rain). We are driving to DW in Oct/Nov with him. He is 17 months right now. Friends of ours have been driving to Florida almost every year with their kids since they were 2 months old..

When DD was 18 months old we drove from Milwaukee, WI to Ft. Lauderdale. I think it was like 25 hours. We're doing it again in August. She'll be 26 months and DS will be 14 months. Yup...we're crazy.

Riley was about 19 months old when we did a 12 hour trip to SC. Really wasn't so bad! Did an all night drive there, she slept the whole way. And we left at 10am to go home and she was great. DVD player is a must! Good luck!

When my son was 17mos we drove to NC-Outer Banks (we only had one chilld back then). But we broke it up...drove to VA and stayed there overnight. It went suprisingly well.
