That would have been a good idea, except his party was yesterday and the cake is gone!  i thought I had some red pipe cleaners at home that i was going to use, but i couldn't find them when i needed them so he went antenna-less. oh well, at least he tasted good!

Oh wow! That came out great!!! What recipe did you use for his allergies? Steven is allergic to milk and chocolate and has never eaten cake!!!

Thanks everyone! 
For those that asked how I made it, I used the wilton sports ball pan. it makes 2 domes that you can put together to form a ball, but i just laid them flat. i did the frosting with a pastry bag and a #16 star tip. it was actually pretty easy, but VERY time consuming!  that's why he didn't get feet or a tail! i had enough!
it IS gorgeous though! Great job!

A few moms on here recommended Cherrybrook Kitchen cake mixes. You can get them at Whole Foods. They're dairy, egg, and nut free. Pretty tasty too! I also used some Pillsbury Devils Food Cake mix. The box says it "may" contain milk, but I couldn't find anything in the ingredient list that was milk or a milk derivative. Cherrybrook also makes icing mixes that you can make with dairy free margarine if you wanted to, but I just used Pillsbury Classic White frosting which doesn't have milk in it.

I used Wilton icing colors and mixed it in with white Pillsbury frosting. You can buy it at Michaels
