Re: Looking for a good Pot Roast Recipe
A really easy slow cooker recipe for pot roast is to: 1. put the roast in and add enough water to coat the bottom (water levels at about 1/4 up the roast) 2. Add a package of onion soup mix
8-10 Hours later VOILA!
The leftover juices makes a great gravy.
ETA:
You can so the same thing for the oven. I sprinkle the powder on the roast but I baste alot.

Re: Looking for a good Pot Roast Recipe
in pot: brown bottom round (dredge in flour with salt, pepper) all sides should be browned in olive oil. Add: enitre goya red wine re-fill red wine bottle with water add to pot ONE ONION stuck with cloves bay leaf rosemary
Let simmer for a two hours or so. you may need to add beef broth / or bouillon water combo
Remove and slice. Drain water, keeping water and getting rid of onion and cloves and bay leaf.
We add gravy thickener and sour cream to the gravy.
put sliced meat back in pot after gravy is finished.
NOTHING BEATS THIS RECIPE... yet...

Re: Looking for a good Pot Roast Recipe
My FAVORITE!!
I also add cut up red potatoes and whole baby carrots to the crock pot after an hour or so!
1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix 1 (3 pound) beef chuck roast 1 (16 ounce) can jellied cranberry sauce 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
..DIRECTIONS 1.Place onion soup mix in the bottom of a slow cooker. Place roast in the slow cooker, and top with cranberry sauce. 2.Cover, and cook 8 hours on Low. 3.Remove roast, and set aside. Set slow cooker to High. Whisk together butter and flour, and slowly mix into the liquid remaining in the slow cooker to create a thick gravy. Serve with the roast.

Re: Looking for a good Pot Roast Recipe
i love pot roast! heres how i make it:
i rub olive oil and that montreal steak seasoning, along with the pepper medley peppercorn stuff and some garlic powder all over and coat the pot roast with it
then, i heat a pan with olive oil and get the meat brown on all sides... set it on a plate for a sec while i throw carrots, onions and celery into a big pot. pour enough chicken stock into the pot to cover the meat, and then i throw the meat in it, medium heat.
as some of the liquid evaporates, i start to pour in red wine into the pot- whatever red wine you like to drink (but red cooking wine is ok too)
4 hours later (depending how much meat you have), its done... dont take it out and start slicing it right away- let it sit for a good 15 minutes out of the pot before you start cutting it!
if you want to make gravy with it, you can either coat the meat in the beginning with flour before you brown it, or, you can use the broth/wine mix and add some flour or cornstarch to make it a little thicker
