Looking for movies - VHS or DVD - Sandy related
My mom lost almost everything in Sandy. Thankfully she has insurance, but obviously not everything can be replaced.
A particularly painful loss was her movie collection; she lost hundreds of VHS tapes from movies and shows she had taped probably going back to when my parents first got a VCR when I was young. I just feel really bad for her because she is a huge movie buff, she's on her own, and this was a great pleasure for her. She loves everything - she would tape silent films from the 20's and then turn around and tape the latest Jennifer Aniston movie. She got nothing from insurance for the tapes.
Since it's almost garage sale season I was wondering if anyone had any old VHS or DVDs that they were planning to sell. Or, if anyone's parents was having a garage sale (since she is probably partial to older movies.) Please note that I am more than happy to pay for them. I am just trying to get them as cheap as possible so I can help replenish her collection.
Thanks to anyone who can help. I can no longer access the boards at work  so if it takes me a day or so to respond to any posts or FMs that is why.

I have some DVDs that I tried selling that I can let you have. Probably about ten or so. Ill go look and let you know the titles. I'm in Amityville.

Try ebay as well you can probably find older vhs/dvds on there for pretty cheap.

and amazon too -- sometimes people sell them for pennies on the dollar. if you have a prime acct then i think your shipping is free.

My grandfather kept a large collection of movies on VHS. He passed last year, I'll ask my mom if they still have them. If they do, they are all yours!

I am sorry this happened to your mom I was in the library this weekend and they were selling VHS and some DVDs for $1..I live out east so not sure where you are but your local library might be worth checking out.
Just in case I come across any is your mom into every kinds of movie?

Thank you all so much for your replies and FMs. I will look into all of your ideas.
To answer questions, yes she is pretty much into every kind of movie; the diversity is surprising.
Thanks again! I am trying to work on this and then maybe try to surprise her when she gets her new TV.
