Looking for NYC Licensed Contractor to come out to LI
Hullo All
Brand new to the forums. Never thought I'd set up a LIFamilies account before LIWeddings but the economic climate forced my hand at buying a home. The deal was too good to pass up!
FH and I are closing on a co-op in Deepdale Gardens in Little Neck this Friday and are looking for a reliable NYC licensed and insured contractor.
Looking to have kitchen redone and cork flooring installed. If anyone knows of a good contractor who is licensed in NYC but willing to come out to Little Neck, please let me know.
I tried searching for past threads but haven't found anything helpful yet. Srry, still new at this. Any advice or tips are warmly welcomed.
Thanks in advance!

Can I ask why you want/need a NYC licensed contractor? Wouldn't you prefer a contractor who knows the local codes and procedures? My contractor knows all the local inspectors, the local rules, who's the best person to talk to, when's the best time for things, etc. If I had a NYC contractor, they would be at a big disadvantage for things like that.

The person doing the work must be licensed in the county where the work is to be done.

I used to live in a different co-op in Little Neck (which is in Queens so goes by NYC code not Nassau Cty code) and our board had a list of contractors that people in the building had used in the past.

Little Neck is Queens, which is probably why they need a NYC contractor

Yep, we're in Queens county and the co-op board was VERY FIRM when they instructed us to get a NYC licensed contractor.
I've already started making a few calls but some places that are based in the city don't really want to bother hauling butt out to the island for a little job like ours.

we live in Glen Oaks and we have the same thing- our management office maintains a list of contracters that are approved to do work in our complex

I too am in Glen oaks. Try to use one of the contractors that they give you. we used an outside guy and let me tell you, they really gave our guy a hard time about EVERYTHING, talk about shady shady shady business!!! our contractor swore off coops after our job. so thsi is why I cant recommend them
