Looking for pediatrician recs in the North Shore Nassau area
Hi! I am starting my pediatrician search as I know it won't be easy. I am VERY picky about drs. I need someone who is patient who explains things clearly, will discuss things with you (not just TELL you what to do) and has NO problems answering a million ? since I always have so many in depth ones.
Can anyone recommend any in the North Shore Nassau area, and can you let me know if they are open to delayed vaccination possibility.
Thanks!

We LOVE our pediatrician - his name is Dr. Zaso and he is in East Meadow. We've been going to him along with other family members, and friends. A few of the mommies on LIF use him as well and love him. He's in his 40's, so he's definitely into more modern ways of doing things, not old school and will sit and talk with you. His nurse is so so nice and sweet too.

I can't say enough good things about my ped - he is truly amazing - BUT - it doesn't seem like he would be for you. He is very abrupt and tells it like it is. No sugarcoating anything.
His name is Arnie Chusid and he is on Hillside Ave. in Williston Park. His # is 516.742.4171 in case you want to meet with him!

Thank you. I just want to be clear though, I DON"T want sugarcoating at all. I just don't want someone so rude and one sided that they want you to just sit back and "trust them" and not ask any questions. I like to have intelligent discussions with the people I am trusting. For me, I can't trust someone who won't have a two way discussion with me. My dog's vet is one of the best drs i know for this reason. He always listens to my concerns and has an answer when I ask a ?. Together we decide how to treat my dog.
This is invaluable to me.

DD goes to Dr. Barash in Great Neck on East Shore Road. He's so sweet and patient. He also spreads out the shots, which I like. Best of all, he takes GHI! I don't have the phone number handy.

Absolutely - he def. does explain things and doesn't rush. I always go in with a list of questions and he answers them all and explains what/why I have to do it this way. He was great about the shots also. At first I was going to delay - he said he had no problem w/ it since I'm the parent...but once he heard we were going to Italy he pretty much insisted that DS get the MMR (so he did)
He's more sarcastic than anything. Ex: A woman walked in bc her son (about 4 yrs old) hit his head. She was obviously crying bc mascara was all over her face. He was like "What the heck is wrong with you - he's a boy - he's fine - and he fell --- someone get her a paper towel bc I can't look at her like that anymore" --- We were all in the waiting room in shock

Ok, thanks for the clarification. You are right though, I don't think he would work for me. My current OB is like this and it's just not working for me. I don't respond well to sarcasm, I am very serious about medical things, and get very frustrated with sarcasm. Thanks anyway D!
