Looking for recommendation to do a patio and some Qs

I was going to do it myself "as usual" but after checking the price of pavers at HD and Lowe's, I am not sure this is worth it for me to do but I want to make sure.

I am just not sure how much it would cost me to have someone install a patio for us.

Could you tell me what who you used and would recommend?

I am in Nassau

What materials did you use and how much did you spend by square feet to have the patio done?

How long did it take to have them come do the job and how long did it take them to do the job?

TIA

I need this to be done in the next 30 days before DS' birthday party.

Re: Looking for recommendation to do a patio and some Qs

if you were going to diy a patio you wouldn't want to get pavers from one of those store since they are retail...we did ours (not easy let me tell you) and we got the pavers from one of the contractor supply companies...can't remember the name right now...on merrick rd in seaford
the patio is around 830 sq ft and the pavers, gravel, sand and other supplies cost us about $2500...you could almost double it by having someone do it for you...i'll update with pics in a minute!

Edit...here is a before and almost after...all i have on the comp...
oh and yeah...no grass...that's this year! Chat Icon

Do you want blacktop or brick? We recently had our front walkway done with the Mickolock pavers (sp?) bricks and I am thrilled with the work! I'll try to post a pic. FM me for the guys names.

Re: Looking for recommendation to do a patio and some Qs

as a comparison for doing it yourself, DH did our 10x10 patio (small) for $660. He bought the sand, crushed concrete and pavers at County Line in Huntington Station and rented a compactor for about $90 from some place in E Northport. It took him about 3 full days to do it with no help.
My dad said it would easily be double if not triple that if we had someone do it for us.
I can ask my dad for recommendations for you though..he is a landscaper in Nassau so he probably knows some guys and has seen some nice jobs.

If you could ask your dad, that would be great! I am not looking to spend $$$ on this though.

It's very hard for me to do this work by myself and taking care of DS.

I think DH could have laid the brickwork himself, but the hardest part definitely looked like the cutting of the bricks. I would leave that to a professional--there's no way DH could have made the cuts look as good as a pro.

I am looking for 2 rectangles so... it's not that "difficult". Just time consuming!!!! Time I just don't have with a toddler.

Re: Looking for recommendation to do a patio and some Qs

We had ours done by LI design works, and they did an amazing job, but its very expensive.

Ours are set in concrete and just that alone added about 15k to the cost.

If you can DIY you can really SAVE a ton of money.

those cuts ARE difficult but we rented the paver saw from home depot and it cuts like butter...every single one of our border bricks required cutting! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
