Looking for vacation ideas this summer
My DD will be 1 in July and we are looking for some ideas for the summer. Nothing crazy, we are on a budget. We are looking for some where we could drive. Once we get to the destination, it would be great if most activities are within walking distance.
TIA
Danielle

We've gone to Ogunquit, ME for the past 3 summers, when DD was 1, 2, and 3. We absolutely LOVE it there. So beautiful, relaxing, and just awesome. I highly recommend it!

we went to cape cod last summer.. DD was 1 1/2 and it was great. She loved the beach and the food scene is pretty casual/family friendly.

Ocean City NJ definitely. very family friendly, clean. beach is gorgeous. lots of playgrounds, bike rentals, boardwalk has tons of amusements. everything is either walkable or bike distance depending on where you stay. we barely ever use the car once we get there.

Re: Looking for vacation ideas this summer
Last year we went to Montauk in August right after DS turned 1. It was a blast, but you have to be a beach person. Everyday was spent on the beach and in the pool. DS loved it.

Lake George
This is what I posted when someone else aske me about going there:
You can spend all day at the lake, go out on a boat, walk through town, etc... There is also an amusement park - Great Escape. I haven't been there since I was a kid but check it out online to see if there are enough things for the kiddies to do.
We usually stay at www.surfsideonthelake.com
It's right in town and on the Lake side. There are alot of great places to stay but for the past few years this has worked for us because we can walk to town (dinner, shopping, etc..) from there and don't have to deal with car/carseat as much. If you want to pay a little more stay in the new rooms on the lake. We stayed in the first room on the ground floor last year. It was great DD would take her afternoon nap, I would lock the front door and sit on the beach right outside the sliding back door. She could nap and I was still able to be outside & keep an eye on her the whole time.

We love Smugglers Notch in Vermont. They have lots to do for all ages, a nursery for the really young if you want to do stuff without child, fun pools, great hiking, zip line, and lots more. I think they have all kinds of accommodations for different prices.

Ditto - we just finished our contract fora townhouse in York Beach for a week this summer because we loved it so much last summer. The townhouse is walking distance to absolutely everything - beach, playground, zoo, Fun-o-rama , restaurants - everything!

Re: Looking for vacation ideas this summer
We used to LOVE going to the Poconos, before kids. Ceasars had a family, rather than couple, oriented resort. I know it has since closed, but I believe it was reopened under new management. But there are others there as well!

Can't remember the exact room# but any of the rooms on the ground floor are on the beach as far as I can remember. Make sure you let them know you want to stay in the new unit.
